With a history of horn-based loudspeakers, taking on a more conventional product for smaller rooms, is no small task…..and from a market perspective, it just have to perform

FRIGG 02

FRIGG 02 is the start of a new era for Ø Audio.

More conventional looking speakers, but with a true Ø Audio DNA. The FRIGG Series is definitely more than meets the eye.

The FRIGG Series Model 02 is a 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker. It’s a no-nonsense design meticulously developed and crafted to take on even more expensive competitors.

With a compact footprint, and modest physical appearance, FRIGG 02 surprises listeners with a powerful, detailed and large soundstage. Yet it treats delicate passages with beautiful tone and precision.

Directivity Control

Just like our larger horn-based models, FRIGG 02 also has directivity-controlled tweeter. The patented DXT-technology provides directivity control despite being a compact waveguide.

This technology provides an even sound characteristic within the working area of the waveguide.

The Tweeter

Coupled to the DXT waveguide is a special dome tweeter developed in cooperation with Norwegian company SEAS. The dome is a unique Metamodal Spread Tow Carbon Fiber design. Also called TPCD. The unique feature of our TPCD-dome is that it’s developed to combat modal behaviors in the dome.

This is the first time a tweeter with these combined technologies has been used in a commercial loudspeaker.

The Midrange

Our midrange driver is where classic meets progression. Together with SEAS we combined a classic hand-coated paper cone on a 26mm titanium former and an inverted surround with a modern low-distortion motor system.

The result is a low distortion midrange with a beautiful tone.

The Woofer

To match the midrange driver, again we combined our vision with the expertise of the engineers at SEAS. A matching hand-coated cone on a 52mm titanium former and a large motor structure secure the deep and dynamic bass response.

To design a more traditional loudspeaker to follow in the footsteps of our Award-Winning Icon, ment we had to up our game and take on the “big boys”

The Crossover

Some say the crossover is the heart of the speaker, others say it’s the brain. We say that it’s both.

A crossover has two main functions. One is to control the acoustic response of the drivers, the other, which of course is linked very closely to the first, is to give the speaker its character.

We design the crossovers to get the best performance out of every speaker. Many designers claim that one topology is superior to another, which in our opinion is not only false, but it limits the possibilities to get the best sound out of a specific design.

For FRIGG 02 we ended up with a hybrid low order crossover. This crossover is a strong contributor to the coherent sound as well as the lively sensation of almost “being there”.

The crossover was designed with the help of modern measurement and simulation tools with numerous listening sessions during the process. FRIGG 02 is designed to work in real-world listening environments, not to just measure well in controlled environments.

The crossover uses very high-quality parts.

We designed the enclosure with a few tricks up its sleeve. There is more to FRIGG 02 than what is obvious at first look

The Enclosure

Top quality drives, crossovers and other parts can only take you part of the distance. The enclosure is a vital part of the end-result.

The FRIGG 02 enclosure is meticulously designed to be the best possible housing for the drivers and other components. Both acoustically and mechanically. It’s a resonance-free sandwich-design which is strategically damped and braced.

We offer enclosure in different Matte painted and veneer finishes.
